In the scope of the expansion strategy for its several business units at Iberian level, Galp Energia signed natural gas supply contracts with two units of the Saint-Gobain group in Spain, the SG Vicasa in Burgos and the SG Vetrotex in Alcalá de Henares, beginning in January 2008.
 
The contracts signed represent sales above 50 million m3(n) per year turning Saint-Gobain group one of the most important industrial clients of Galp Energia. Saint-Gobain is already a Galp Energia client through supply contracts with SG Mondego and SG Glass, the two units that the world leader in glass manufacture has in Portugal. Saint-Gobain holds 24 additional units in Spain, which represent as a whole a consumption above 300 million m3(n), 20% of the Portuguese industrial market.

After the award of the natural gas trading licence in Spain, in August 2007, the entrance of Galp Energia in the Spanish natural gas market, through the industrial sector, has been achieved. The industrial sector represents an annual consumption of 15 billion of m3(n), ten times the Portuguese industrial market.

Galp Energia intends to leverage on the knowledge acquired over the 10 years it created and operated the natural gas market in Portugal, in order to position itself as a relevant Iberian player, taking advantage of the growth opportunities in Spain, a market with strong growth prospects and high attractiveness for an Iberian trader with the size and aim of Galp Energia.
